Sabres install blue ice for AHL games

The Buffalo Sabres announced Thursday that they have installed a light blue ice surface at HSBC Arena for two American Hockey League games being played by their AHL affiliate Rochester Americans.

The games take place on Sunday, March 20 vs. the Cleveland Barons and Sunday, April 3 vs. the St. John's Maple Leafs. Both games will begin at 5:00 PM.

''We are very excited to experiment with a light blue ice surface,'' said Buffalo Sabres Managing Partner Larry Quinn. ''The National Hockey League first introduced the idea of using different types of ice colors and we asked their permission to experiment with the blue ice concept during our two upcoming AHL games. We think the action on the ice will show up better on television with a blue surface and will be easier to see the flow of the puck.''

This experiment, approved by the National Hockey League and the AHL, will also see the traditional blue lines replaced by orange lines and the red center ice line will be dark blue. The face off circles will be orange while the end lines and crease lines will stay red.

Irgendwie kann ich mir das schlecht vorstellen. Ein schwarzer Puck sieht man meiner Meinung am Besten auf weißen Eis....warum Blau jetzt besser sein soll, keine Ahnung!? ...die haben Probleme.

Naja Pucks sind zu 98,45342% schwarz und in dem Bericht steht nichts von anders farbigen Pucks.

Was auch komisch sein wird, ist das sie blaue Linie jetzt Orange ist... Wie macht das dann der Kommentator? ...quasi: "Der Orangeliner schießt! Tor von der Orangen Linie! Jawoll!"

wobei die blaue linie sehr wohl auch blau hätte bleiben können.
ich finde, daß man sie gut sehen kann. orange hat zwar einen noch schärferen kontrast ist aber nicht zwingend notwendig.

Also bis auf die orangenen Linien gefällt es mir auch sehr gut. Auf jeden Fall besser als seinerzeit die (blau?) eingefärbten Bullykreise in der DEL . Schade das auf den Bildern kein Puck zu sehen ist.

Wenn das mal nicht geil ist, dann weiß ich es nicht. Haben, haben, haben. Im Ernst der Macher ist ein Künstler und versteht sein Handwerk. Bzg. Der orangenen Farbe halte ich es genauso wie der Herr oder die Dame vor mir. Dunkelblau hat immernoch genügend Kontrast.

PS: Da sich bis jetzt noch keiner bzg. morgen nach Wolfsburg gemeldet hat, gebe ich bekannt das ich selber fahre und noch 2 Plätze frei sind. Abfahrt wäre ca 16:00 Uhr Eishalle genaueres würde per Handy geklärt sofern ich pn's bzg. Mitfahrwunsch erhalte.

sensationell. das sieht da aus wie NHL96, nur in echt. find ich klasse. jetzt muss der puck nur noch die damals spieltypischen maße annehmen.
