Liles, the 23-year-old Indiana native who played on national development program teams and then four seasons at Michigan State, already was operating under Plan B when he was summoned last week to join the USA team as a replacement after defensemen Hal Gill (broken foot) and Jordan Leopold (concussion) were injured in pretournament exhibitions.
Liles was in Kassel, Germany, skating with the Kassel Huskies of the German League, who begin their season Sept. 17. Though he is under contract to the Avalanche for next season, at $600,000, he is planning to sign a provisional deal with Kassel and play as long as the lockout lasts. Such escape-hatch deals are allowed under International Ice Hockey Federation rules, but the NHL stipulation is once the lockout ends, an NHL player can't play any more games outside the league - or immediately will be ruled ineligible for the rest of the NHL season.
"There are some guys who have been playing in the league for 10, 12 years who say they would like a break," Liles said. "But I'm young. I would like to keep playing. Unfortunately, I'm not really sure what's going to happen in these coming few weeks."

Jau, aber hier ist es so dunkel - hilffffffeeeeee Dafür wirkt Forsberg natürlich mit dem dunkelblauen Nachthimmel besonders attraktiv so oben ohne. Das Bild kann ich erkennen. Die Schrift ist auf blauem Hintergund nicht zu lesen. Liegts an dem Forum, dann bitte mal heile machen.
Ich kann dir nur antworten, weil ich das ausgedruckt hatte. Mein Hintergrund ist dunkelblau und schwarze Schrift ist nicht lesbar. Die anderen Farben und die Fotos sehe ich. Ich kann mir auch nicht vorstellen, das mir das Foto von Forsi nun total auf die Augen geschlagen wäre, obwohl meine Schwedenblindheit ja nun evtl. einen Rückschlag erlitten hat.
@Anne Bei mir ist auch alles normal... vielleicht ist dein Internetexplorer verstellt!? Schau mal unter Extras -> Internetoptionen -> ganz unten Farben und Schriftarten. Wahrscheinlich stimmt da was nicht.

Bei mir zu Hause ist alles in Ordnung. Danke für den Tipp. Wahrscheinlich habe ich dann auf dem Rechner im Büro versehentlich was geändert, oder unsere Hotline hat das gemacht, um mich daran zu erinnern, dass meine Kaffeepause etwas zu lange dauerte. Ich dachte ja, die Farben hier werden durch EUCH vorgegeben und das könte man selbst gar nicht ändern. aber ich schreibe mir das mal auf und sehe morgen nach. Danke noch mal.

Eigentlich sind die auch vom Forum aus vorgegeben, deswegen versteh ich das auch nicht so ganz. Ist es denn nur hier im Forum? Vielleicht hat der PHP-Interpreter ne Macke und manche Browser Versionen zeigen dann halt die falschen Farben an. Keine Ahnung..

Bei mir hier steht unter der Option "Windows Farben verwenden". Was immer das heißt. Auf der Arbeit muss ich mal nachsehen. Jedenfalls kenne ich ja nun das Fenster, wo ich da was finde. Ansonsten war es alles bei mir auf dem Bildschirm aber alles ok. Allerdings bekam ich beim Aufrufen eurer normalen Hompage eine Meldung, dass aufgrund der neuen Sicherheitseinstellung die Seite evtl. nicht richtig erscheinen würde, oder so ähnlich. Ich hatte es nämlich mal über die Homepage versucht, weil ich sonst immer gleich per Link ins Forum gehe, und der ist schon ziemlich alt. Auf dem Wege hatte ich aber das gleiche Problem. Es war nur hier im Forum alles , was jetzt hellblau ist, dunkelblau heute nachmittag. Vielleicht geht es ja morgen wieder. @ Icy : Sorry ich kam vom Thema ab. Aber Fory im blauen Nachhimmel, das war einfach umwerfend.

MONTREAL - Colorado Avalanche defenseman John-Michael Liles is prepared to play in Germany if NHL owners put the 2004-05 season on hold with a lockout.
"If worse comes to worst, at least I have a backup plan," Liles, a member of the U.S. World Cup team, said Tuesday.
Liles, who made the NHL's all-rookie team last season, would play for the Kassel Huskies in the German League. Kassel is about a two-hour drive from Frankfurt.
Liles was in Kassel last week when he was asked to replace Boston Bruins defenseman Hal Gill on the U.S. team. Gill broke a leg in an exhibition game against Canada.
"I jumped on a plane and got back just in time for the last exhibition game," said Liles, who scored a goal Friday when the United States defeated Russia 2-0 at Columbus, Ohio.
"I was over there just practicing and skating a bit, waiting to see what's going to happen. It's always in the back of your mind, but you just have to put it out of your mind and go about your business."
The collective-bargaining agreement between the NHL and NHL Players Association expires Sept. 15 - the day after the World Cup championship game - and a lockout is expected unless a new deal is in place.
The parties have met several times, including Tuesday in Montreal, but no progress has been reported.
Avalanche forward Steve Konowalchuk, another U.S. team member, is bracing for the worst.
"You know there's not going to be a start to the season, but that won't really sink in until the 15th or 16th," he said. "That's just kind of what we're being told."
Konowalchuk, who signed a three-year, $7.5 million contract this summer, said he will stay in the Denver area with his family if there's a lockout.
Avalanche defenseman Adam Foote, who is playing for Canada in the tournament, said going to Europe wouldn't be an option for him, but he would consider it if a lockout continued into the following season.
"If we're locked out, I'm going to take this year to heal and get a lot of rest and do things I've never done before and try to add a year to the end of my career," he said.
